Everyone knows that water is good for you. Consuming it every day is essential for your ongoing health. The reason for this is that the human body is 60% water. However, this water isn’t consistent. However, water is constantly expelled through sweat, urine, and in other forms. The result is that you need to consistently replenish it. But, how much should you be drinking?

In the first instance, the water has travelled through miles of pipes since it has been treated and tested at the water plant. It is possible for the water to pick up contaminants during this journey.
It’s also worth noting that the treatment plant adds various chemicals, such as chlorine and fluoride. These can potentially have negative effects on the body. The Right Amount
The general guidelines for water consumption are:
- Approximately 3.7 litres for men
- Approximately 2.7 litres for women
Of course, you’re not going to want to measure every bit of water you drink. That’s why it is easier to aim for eight large glasses of water a day.
You should note that it’s not just water that counts, water is present in many different drinks, which can contribute toward your water intake. However, alcohol and other dehydrating drinks don’t count.
Eight glasses of water is a good target. But, water intake does vary according to who is drinking the water.
For example, if you live in a hot climate and are prone to sweating a lot, or you undertake exercise that makes you sweat, you’ll be using more water and will need to replenish more.
The same is true if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. In addition, some medical conditions can cause dehydration and will necessitate the additional consumption of water.
The aim is to stay hydrated. If you pinch the skin on the back of your hand and it is slow to return to its normal colour and position, then you’re dehydrated.
How To Drink Water
It can be difficult to keep track of how much water you have drunk, especially when a variety of beverages contribute toward your water intake.
The simplest approach is to invest in a reusable water bottle and keep it with you. It makes it easy to drink water all the time and easier to ensure you’ve drunk enough.
